Welcome, to yet another Bold-404
battle report. Since I'm relatively out of practice, I decided to play a regular
public 1on1 Lost Temple for fun. I created and Ronald_W_Reagan entered, he had a
relatively poor record but played a lot of games (but as we all know, bnet record
basically means nothing). Anyway, I opted to go for my usual Random and spawned teal
Protoss at 2:00, and Reagan chose Random as well, and as I eventually found, spawned white
Terran at 9:00. I proceeded with my standard Protoss build, going for pylon between
7th and 8th probe, gateway at 10 (sent a probe to scout), second gateway at 13, and second
pylon around 16. Before I knew my opponent was Terran (he was in the last spot I
checked), I had pumped out about 4-5 zealots already, and hadn't gotten gas.
I
usually opt to tech straight for ranged goons, building only a few zealots against
Terran,
but I figured since I already amassed a good amount of zealots I'd see what they could do.
So, I took about 8 zealots and marched them over
to Reagan's base. He had a bunker w/ marines, a turret, and a repairing SCV on his
ramp.. so what'd I do? I marched them straight up the ramp and passed his bunker,
but zealots are buff so they didn't take too much damage. Then I proceeded to cause
mischief within his main by attacking some stray marines, buildings, SCV's.
It was
hard to pick off his SCVs because he had another bunker right by his minerals, but I did
manage to kill a couple and cause him to lift off one of his barracks before I suicided
them trying to kill the bunker. (Sorry that I don't have screen shots of this first
attack.. I didn't decide to report this game until after he withstood my first wave).
At this point I had my opponent on defense, wondering when the next wave of zealots
would come charging in.. so I took this opportunity to tech up to range goons and dark
templar while expanding to my natural. In a short while I managed to accumulate the
forces you see below, working from 3 gateways powered by my main and my natural expansion.
Since I wasn't getting attacked and I felt like
I had a resource advantage, I decided to tech and power like crazy. I chose to keep
pumping out my range goons, upgrade armor (always armor 1st vs. Terran), start researching
psi storm, and make some observers. Here is what the heart of my main base looked
like at this point:

Above you see my tech, below you'll see my
power. I expanded to the 12:00 main spot (main's are awesome expansion spots for
toss if you get some cannons and gates up) and to the bottom right island very soon
thereafter.

At this point I began sending my observers out
all over the place to ensure that my opponent wasn't expanding as well. Once I had
every spot covered I knew I had complete map control and a huge resource advantage.
Below you'll see Reagan's empty natural, and every other expansion empty as well..
whereas I had 4 sources of income.

When one of my observers approached the
outskirts of my opponent's main base, I found that his entire perimeter was covered with
turrets... can you say turtle?

Whatever my opponent had going for him, it
certainly wasn't a match for this army.

To my surprise, an observer catches an expansion
attempt. He waited way too long for this.. I had too much power and complete map
control.

I only had about 2 shuttles available at this
point so I filled them up with about 4 temps, 1 dragoon, and 2 zealots.. unfortunately for
him, this would be more than enough to stop his expansion attempts. He managed to
kill my 1 dragoon with emp and marine fire. But his full dropship of marines were
slaughtered instantly by 2 storms from one of my templar, while my zealots began to attack
his CC.

After Reagan began to float his CC back over to
his natural I decided to suicide my 2 shuttles worth of troops to keep him on his toes a
bit. I morphed 2 temps into an archon, and dropped my payload into his natural.
I killed some infantry with storms and did more damage to his CC but my guys were
eventually killed by emp and more infantry. It was well worth it in my opinion..
besides, at this point I could replenish troops instantaneously.

Normally in this situation I would just get a
few corsairs with dweb, charge up his ramp and end the game, but I decided to have some
fun. Instead of corsairs I began pumping 4 arbiters to recall my horde of ground
troops into Reagan's main base. Here is the result:

Have a nice day :).. Reagan's base crumbled in
no time.

A couple gg's were exchanged and the game ended
in a victory for me.

This game was kind of fun. I knew I had
won the moment I found every expansion empty, save my 3. To tell you the truth, I
don't know what this guy was doing cooped up in that base of his. He waited way too
long to expand. I'm not a big fan of mass shuttles for dropping troops on a turtle,
I'd definitely go for corsairs and barge in using dweb against a skilled opponent, but in
this case I decided to use recall because arbiters are just so fun to use.. and I usually
don't get the opportunity to employ them in the fashion that I did that game.
(BTW:
All of my games that I play from my family's computer at home I use the bnet name
Achilles.. in case you were wondering who the heck that was :). That's all for now.
Hope you enjoyed this report.
