One night myself, DJNewStyle and WayCoolJr decided to hold a small 1v1 tourney between the 3 of us and have an observer report each game.   I had the pleasure to report a great 1on1 stationed on Lost Temple.  Both players randomed.  DJ spawned Zerg at 12:00 and WCJ spawned Terran at 2:00.   There was some scouting early on, but no major rushes.  DJ went for a hatchery at his ramp followed by spawning pool, extractor, hydra den.  He built 2 sunkens by his hatchery at his ramp, but no zerglings.  Instead he built another hatchery in his main and began to upgrade to lair (for lurkers) while producing hydras.

WCJ on the other hand did a 2 barracks build, massing marines while teching to medics and tanks.   He sent his first control group of marines to the outside of DJ's main.

DJ managed to crawl his first control group of hydras passed the marines waiting for him outside his base and towards WCJ's main.  When he got there, he began to morph a few lurkers.

The marines however, caught on to DJ's pursuit and began to head back home to reinforce.  The flanking marines cut down the remaining hydras while some newly produced marines/medics and tanks took care of the lurkers with ease.   I must commend WCJ for micromanaging extremely well in this situatioin.. he comsatted and killed both lurkers before they could do any damage.

After DJ's lurker assault failed he decided to switch his approach and build a spire.  However, he built some more hydras in the meantime while expanding to his natural expansion as well.

DJ took his hydras, an overlord and a drone and began building a hatchery at WCJ's natural!  I don't really know why he did this, but I'm guessing he wanted to contain WCJ with sunkens and keep up severe pressure.

However, WCJ had a large amount of tanks and a few science vessels which would take care of DJ's new establishment.  This didn't really phase DJ too much considering he had a nice resource advantage right now; he had 2 expansions to WCJ's zero expanions.

Moreover, DJ had switched up his strategy by going for mass mutalisks (he is well-known for this approach) and began assaulting WCJ's main.  He killed 3 turrets, losing a couple mutas in the process, and was eventually chased away by marines and medics.  The attack was not too successful.

WayCoolJr decided at this point to make his first offensive strike.   He started his natural expansion and took a large group of about 8-10 tanks, a few wraiths, a small group of marines and medics, and a couple SV's to DJ's natural.  He managed to take out the hatchery at DJ's natural, but DJ wisely destroyed all of WayCool's anti-air so that he could take free shots and destroy the bulk of the attack, the tanks, with ease.  WayCool would have been much more successful if he had brought more anti-air with him.  Irradiate does a good job, but you really need some M&M to finish off the hurting mutalisks.

In retaliation, DJ decided to return the favor and began attacking WCJ's natural.. destroying most of the scv's there and some turrets.

WayCool managed to chase away the offending mutalisks, but he was running out of resources.  He was working off his almost diminished main, whereas DJ had his natural, 9:00 and it's natural, as well as 6:00 and it's natural.. all uncontested.   He also had tabs on the rest of the expansion spots.  Now it was just a matter of barging into WCJ's base.  So, he morphed a mass group of mutalisks into guardians and some devourers and began to pound on WCJ's main.  WayCool managed to fight this attack off somewhat with his Irradiate and a group of wraiths, but he was running out of minerals and was getting overwhelmed.  DJ kept producing guardians and devourers until WCJ was forced to surrender.

Overall, I thought this game was pretty good.  The only thing keeping WayCool from making more of an impact was his lack of resources in comparison to DJ.. otherwise, he micro'd his attacks and defense very well.  Some minor things I noticed was that DJNewStyle only had 1 drone on gas at his natural.. he did that by accident.  If he had 3-4 drones he might have gotten guardians even earlier.   Good game guys.  Hopefully we'll play more of these in the future.
