Exact details have not been posted due to their workload and the holiday weekend, but current users are sharing their experiences on their dedicated forum.

Diablo 2 version 1.10 Patch in Development - 5/28/2002 - DJNewStyle

Blizzard Entertainment has announced that a new patch for Diablo 2 will soon be available. They say it is to be a significant patch, which will alter the character structure - as far as ladders as concerned.

Instead of having all characters rated on the ladder, the patch allows new characters to be classified as Normal (which includes both Original and Expansion characters, with the same limitations), and Ladder. Ladder Characters will be the only characters able to compete for the season, whose length and time period is to be announced.

The patch will set characters created prior to it's release as Normal Characters. Normal characters can't play in games created by Ladder characters. There is no official date on this patch.

Blizzard releases two patches! - 5/16/2001 - DJNewStyle

Today it was announced that Warcraft 2 Battle.net Edition and the Original Diablo have had update patches released. Both patches, WC2Bne 2.02 and Diablo 1.09, are available now and fix bugs of varying importance.

The Warcraft 2 patch fixes a hack which would allow you to perform upgrades repeatedly, bringing your units to normally unattainable levels. To read more about it, click here.

The Diablo patch corrects a small glitch involving distance. To read more about it, click here.

Diablo II Ladders to be Reset - 5/8/2001 - DJNewStyle

Today Blizzard announced that the ladders for their latest hit, Diablo II, will be reset. What this means is that all characters on the ladder will be removed, but not erased. In order to compete on the ladders (Both Hardcore, and Normal) you need to create a new character after the reset. Here's what Blizzard had to say:

Diablo II Standard and Hardcore Ladders will be reset in late June signifying the start of the new season. At that time, all characters currently on those ladders will be removed. If you wish to be on the new season’s Diablo II Standard or Hardcore Ladder you will have to create a new character following the reset. The Diablo II Ladder reset will not otherwise affect any existing characters and no characters will be deleted...

This probably means that the Expansion will be released in late June as was expected, but this does bring up an interesting point. The people who win the ladder are the people with the most free time, not the person with the best character building skills. However, it could be nice to see your name on the list, if only for a little while.

Diablo II News - 4/17/2001 - DJNewStyle

Well it seems that there are a bunch of things going on with Blizzard's latest hit, Diablo II.

New Realm Added
Due to the demand for a faster connection, and the popularity of their titles in Asia, Blizzard has added an "Asia2" realm to accomidate their Asia/Pacific userbase. The new realm is online now, and doubles the capacity of the current Asian realm.

Blizzard to Select Beta Testers - 3/28/2001 - DJNewStyle

April 4th will be the day to sign up for your spot in the Diablo II: Lord of Destruction beta test! Here is a quote direct from Blizzard:

Unannounced Project - A Movie?! - 2/27/2001 - DJNewStyle

Although this is just a rumor, I've just decided that the unnanounced project may not be a game afterall. This excerpt was taken from a news article which reveals Blizzard's plans to produce a Diablo movie:

In the complaint, Blizzard said it intends to produce a film called Diablo and based on the game. The suit notes Blizzard owns a trademark, filed in April 1996 and approved in July 2000, for that Diablo movie mark, which the suit also notes is currently being contested by New Line. Further, Blizzard also has a pending application for a movie called Diablo II: Salvation, filed in February 1997 and approved in July 2000.

It seems that they've known that they've wanted to make the movie since 1996, yet all of their public statements deny such intentions. Since Blizzard hasn't made a comment yet, are we left to believe that this could be the project they wanted to remain unnanounced?

Diablo IIBlizzard has finally released the official Diablo II demo! The 132MB demo is the same thing that you may have missed in the Closed Beta or the Stress Test. It features the Barbarian and the first couple quests of Act I, and it ends with the blood raven. I would recommend Diablo II to anyone, but if you want to try it first, click here!

A Definite 1.08 Hoax - 12/30/2000 - DJNewStyle

I was on SCLegacy today, and read about someone who claims to have downloaded the Starcraft 1.08 patch through a Battle.net glitch. If that doesn't seem foolish enough, view the screenshots:

-The first screenshot shows a gateway selection screen. First of all, it only shows 2 gateways which are used exclusively for Diablo II. It asks the user to select the gateway for their region, but whoever edited this screenshot forgot to add the Europe and Asia gateways. I doubt that blizzard would leave these out. Also, look at the menu. It's red box is pushed against the right side of the "gateway selection" menu. Blizzard is a company of perfectionists, they'd never make a sloppy menu in this manner. On to the next screen shot.

-The second screenshot shows a Battle.net connection screen. Is this supposed to convince us? Why would Blizzard employ gateway selection as a method to reduce lag? If they did, the Asian gateway would be lagged to all hell.

-The third screenshot shows the single player menu with a "Load Replay" button. This is a lame attempt to fool the public, if you ask me.

-The fourth screenshot is the "Load Replay" menu. It shows two *.rep files which exist on this guy's hard drive. Hmm, since he admits that there was no record game option, how did he get these, and would Blizzard include replay games in the patch? No.

-I didn't think I need to go on further, but there is a fifth screenshot which SCLegacy says is the most convincing shot. It is a shot of the game replay in action. First of all, the Goliath is selected, and I guess it's name has been changed to "Defense Robot". Oh yea, and I guess the Goliath has taken on the Ghost's portrait. This whole hoax is so stupid.

Don't believe any of this crap. I can't believe this has ANY credibility.
