| Jaleco's new Starcraft!? - 3/11/2003 - WayCoolJr
Ron and Chris Millar, two talented brothers who've worked on everything from Warcraft to StarCraft: Ghost, turned more than a few heads last month when they joined Jaleco Entertainment to work on "a game to be announced." Well, the game can consider itself right and truly announced now—Goblin Commander: Unleash the Horde, a vaguely Pikmin-like mix of action and real-time strategy, will be their first came for the Jalecans.
Set in the land of Ogriss, Goblin Command has you controlling a group of good goblins as they try to keep a group of bad gobilns from destroying the world. Although the Warcraft influence can be seen here and there, the game itself is quite different and has been designed to be a bit friendlier to console-owning folk. The game's roots are planted squarely in the RTS field, but the control scheme will be easy to master (we hear), the environments will be fully destructable, and there are some arcade-action elements which Jaleco are unfortunately not going into at this time.
"We're thrilled to be bringing one of today's hottest genres to console gamers around the world," producer Chris Millar said. "Goblin Commander offers plenty of fun fighting and destruction, yet has enough thought provoking strategic and tactical elements to keep even the most hardcore RTS fan challenged and satisfied. It's a perfect blend of brains and brawn."
Goblin Commander's due to hit all next-generation systems in the fourth quarter of 2003. We'll very likely have more info on this one soon, so stay tuned.
For those who do not know, Jaleco was responsible for the Survival horror hit Carrier.

| Free stuff - 1/29/2003 - VectorPrime
Hi. Those of who you don't know me I'm another pissed off Rutgers CS major. I like console RPGs and some FPS for the PC. Oh, I also like Starcraft but I suck too much at it to ever show my face in a multiplayer game. Anyway, onto the news.
For those of you into console RPGs and that like to collect the misc. pieces 'o crap that come with them, EBWorld.com is offering a free art book when you pre-order Xenosaga through them, check it out here.
Xenosaga is a sort of prequel to Xenogears, a highly popular PSX rpg. If you want to find out more about Xenosaga go here. It will kick much ass. |
| Blizzard DVDs - 11/27/2002 - WayCoolJr

The DVDs contain high-resolution versions of the cinematics in the games, as well as extras such as director's commentary and storyboards for the cinematics. |
| Unannounced.. Starcraft related? - 9/19/2002 - DJNewStyle
The speculation has been going on for some time now, but with one day left, things have been getting crazy. Blizzard Entertainment has had a counter on their website to count down the seconds until their big announcement, but the real effect of it is all the guess-work it's caused.
Every now and then the counter displays a blue number in the seconds field. The numbers represent a letter in the alphabet, and a number of messages have been decoded, including: IM HERE, and SOMEBODY CALL FOR AN EXTERMINATOR. Clearly, these are the quotes from the Terran Ghost in Starcraft.
So for now it seems like a valid argument that this mystery project is SC Related - but until that timer ticks to 0, we won't know for sure. |
| Old School - 7/6/2002 - DJNewStyle
Back in the glory days of Starcraft, there was a site called Tao-of-Gaming (As seen here in early 2000). The site was staffed by excellent gamers,
had tons of strategies, and every now and then they would host massive tournaments.
Back in the old school days of 404 Gaming, we took notice of this site and saw a 2 man tournament with
actual prizes: Some money, a mouse pad, a hat, but still - prizes. We weren't stars - we weren't professionals..
but WayCoolJr and I decided to enter, and we had some fun. We won the
first match on Hunters against some easily forgettable opponents in what became
an easy win. The next round we drew the Imports. The Imports was a highly recognized clan. They may not have been the
best, but have had quite a few well-known members (Including Zileas).
The game starts with teal zerg for WayCoolJr, and red protoss for me. I
just found the game report on Battlereports.com.
Click here to check it out.
In addition to his expanding, 404DJ does the incredibly skilled Double Citadel of Adun Rush ™, prompting a few comments from the peanut gallery =]
Live it down? Nah. |

Good luck to those who entered! |

| A Definite 1.08 Hoax - 12/30/2000 - DJNewStyle
I was on SCLegacy today, and read about someone who claims to have downloaded the Starcraft 1.08 patch through a Battle.net glitch. If that doesn't seem foolish enough, view the screenshots:
-The first screenshot shows a gateway selection screen. First of all, it only shows 2 gateways which are used exclusively for Diablo II. It asks the user to select the gateway for their region, but whoever edited this screenshot forgot to add the Europe and Asia gateways. I doubt that blizzard would leave these out. Also, look at the menu. It's red box is pushed against the right side of the "gateway selection" menu. Blizzard is a company of perfectionists, they'd never make a sloppy menu in this manner. On to the next screen shot.
-The second screenshot shows a Battle.net connection screen. Is this supposed to convince us? Why would Blizzard employ gateway selection as a method to reduce lag? If they did, the Asian gateway would be lagged to all hell.
-The third screenshot shows the single player menu with a "Load Replay" button. This is a lame attempt to fool the public, if you ask me.
-The fourth screenshot is the "Load Replay" menu. It shows two *.rep files which exist on this guy's hard drive. Hmm, since he admits that there was no record game option, how did he get these, and would Blizzard include replay games in the patch? No.
-I didn't think I need to go on further, but there is a fifth screenshot which SCLegacy says is the most convincing shot. It is a shot of the game replay in action. First of all, the Goliath is selected, and I guess it's name has been changed to "Defense Robot". Oh yea, and I guess the Goliath has taken on the Ghost's portrait. This whole hoax is so stupid.
Don't believe any of this crap. I can't believe this has ANY credibility. |
| Starcraft at 404 Gaming - 12/20/2000 - DJNewStyle
After a long wait, we've finally completed our Starcraft section. All the original content has been ported into our new look. We feature strategies, maps, battle reports, and there's always fresh stuff on the way.
Since our start in May of 1999, we've focused only on Starcraft. Now, just about a year and a half later, we've begun our process of branching out. Expect to see other games on the way! Next up: Quake 3 Arena. |
| "New" Stuff! - 12/8/2000 - DJNewStyle
I added a few "new" things. New only to the site. The first is a scrub, blindbeaver. What a dumbass. The second, is a map. It's a map that I created in the summer called Sandstorm. It's located here. Give it a try, let BGH/Hunters have a day off. |
